Course Overview
This course provides the skills needed to support water-based activities at clubs, schools and outdoor recreation centres. You'll learn about race course design, practise on-water rescue of dinghies and gain an awareness of techniques to support kite surfers and kayaks.
The course will be run in two stages.
(1) Online theory - Wednesday 9th August 2023 5pm - 8pm (online links will be emailed closer to the event)
(2) Practical on water session - Saturday 12th August 2023 8am - 5pm (rain, hail or shine)
You will need to bring your own life jacket and appropriate clothing, food and water for a full day on the water.
Course Prerequisites
Water confident. A current boat license from Service NSW. The skills and knowledge gained in Powerboat Handling Course or equivalent power boating experience (please contact HHSC to confirm your experience - HHSC reserve the right to recommend the completion of either/both Start Powerboat or Powerboat Handling before the attending the Safety Boat Handling Course).

Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to support their Sailing Club as a support boat for either racing or learn to sail courses. This course is also a prerequisite for becoming a Sailing Coach.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Safety Boat Operator completion certificate.
Registration
All regitrations must be made in the legal name of the participant. Additional fees may apply if you request a change of name to your registration.
At the completion of your course you will be issued a certificate.
