Wow this session has filled up already!! But we’d hate for you to miss out, so please check out our Saturday in October session, and our November and December TrySailing sessions!!

Thank you for your interest in sailing as a sport for your child. HHSC's Learn to Sail program offers children a complimentary chance to TRY-SAILING for 3 weeks of Saturday mornings from 09.00 - 11.30. Training boats and lifejackets are provided.

HHSC has limited placements and provides a high level of support. As well as that, sailing is a complex sport and will not be suited to everyone. Our TRY-SAILING is about families having time to decide whether sailing is suitable for your child and to get an appreciation of the sport and how HHSC operates.

Having completed your complimentary TRY-SAILING course, your child may be interested in our LEARN TO SAIL (Tackers) courses at which time fees will be due. The course fee for lessons during the school term includes annual membership to HHSC for the sailor as well as one parent, and an Australian Sailing accredited program fee.

Sailing is a challenging and rewarding sport. Wind and water are constantly changing as your young sailor adapts tactics, strategy, rules, self-reliance, self-confidence and team work. HHSC coaches are amongst the very best and will help your young sailor acquire a level of knowledge and experience from which sailors begin to enjoy challenges and become passionate about them.  Sailing is physically and mentally demanding, sailing a boat well in a competitive environment takes many years, all valuable experiences for life.

The program is an Australian Sailing accredited Optimist dinghy course with Australian Sailing accredited coaches. There is no time limit to our Learn to Sail course. Once your child has a basic level of competence, they will be invited to progress through the 3 stages of Learn2Sail, and then into our Transition to Green Fleet program. Graduation to this level is about building confidence. Sailors continue to enjoy the use of a club boat, while there is a commitment to acquire their own Optimist dinghy. Optimist sailors go on to Green Fleet, Intermediate Fleet and then Open Fleet which will require a commitment to train during the week and race. The curriculum pathway from junior sailing extends to youth and Olympic classes.

We look forward to your child joining us for our complimentary month of TRY-SAILING. Should you have any questions, please speak to our 'host’ on Saturday morning.
